Recycled cashmere behaves nothing like new cashmere, and that is the point.
Recycled fibre is shorter, so yarn spun from it breaks more easily and blooms differently after washing. Designing with it means accepting less control over the surface.
How we work with it
We blend recycled cashmere with a small share of virgin fibre for strength, then knit at a looser gauge so the fabric keeps its softness.
The results are deliberately uneven. Two pieces from the same run will look slightly different, and we now photograph that rather than hide it.
Our recycled cashmere knit is the first style in the range with a repair guarantee of ten years.
